Get Fast & Loud

Do you feel the need, the need for speed? Well, you’re in luck! Darwin is about to get fast – and loud – as the V8 Supercars hit the track at Hidden Valley for three action-packed days of burning rubber.

The Merlin Darwin Triple Crown returns after delivering an altered format in 2020, rolling out in August instead of June with the addition of an extra round making it Australia’s first doubleheader since the pandemic hit.

Anticipation is growing as event organisers predict huge numbers at this year’s event, with hotels booking out and tickets selling well in advance compared to previous years. Minister for Major Events, Natasha Fyles, says this year’s program is a biggie.

“After a unique Supercars doubleheader last year, this year we’ll see a super-fast edition, featuring the Supercars, Australian Superbikes, Stadium Super Trucks, Nitro Up North complete with the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars and Australian Top Door Slammers, and some first-rate acts on stage,” she says.

“With another world-class event this year and strong demand for tickets … the flow-on benefits will be felt across our community.”

If you’re not there for the cars, you’re there for the concert, and the first-rate acts Minister Fyles refers to may just tempt you trackside.

Lead vocalist of legendary band Powderfinger, Bernard Fanning, returns to Darwin, joined by Brisbane band Ball Park Music and electronic musician Alice Ivy. Fanning says he’s keen to hit the Top End.

“The beautiful Northern Territory is one of my favourite places to visit, and it has been more than four years since we have had the pleasure of seeing you guys in the flesh,” he says.

“I’ll be bringing my band The Black Fins and we can’t wait to play some tunes, new and old, for you at the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown, especially after what has been an incredibly tough year for so many people.”

So, if you feel the need for speed or would like to see your happiness slowly creeping back, the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown is where it’s at.

Live in the fast lane and strap yourselves in for a weekend of heart-pounding action under the sun.
