Darwin Festival - Early Release!

The word is out – Darwin Festival is offering a tantalising taste of what’s to come this August with four shows on sale now!

Darwin Festival is proud to present the world premiere of Medium, a contemporary dance work by Indonesian dancer and choreographer Rianto, which speaks to the world on universal and current issues through dance, film and music from the kendang – a traditional two-headed drum.

Part play, part picture book, the entirely beautiful You and Me and The Space Between from Terrapin Puppet Theatre is the narrated story of an adventurous girl, accompanied by live drawings from Chinese cartoonist Badiucao and striking puppetry.

Brace yourself for a brand new gothic, erotic, airborne night of vaudeville, as the glamazons behind Caravan Burlesque bring us The Birds in an unforgettable Festival experience. Music lovers should once again get set for the annual National Indigenous Music Awards with this year’s event celebrating the history of Indigenous protest songs.

Save the date for the free Santos Opening Concert at The Amphitheatre. Kick-start three weeks of multi- arts mania – Darwin Festival style – on Thursday 4 August with acclaimed Australian songstress Sarah Blasko and North West Arnhem Land group Nabarlek, while the Festival’s favourite big day out for little arts lovers, the People’s Choice Teddy Bear’s Picnic, is back on Sunday 7 August at the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens for a special family-sized taste of the Festival program.

Thanks for the early release Darwin Festival. These incredible shows are sure to sell fast.
