Walking with Spirits

This intimate three-day Indigenous culture festival returns in July, with a stellar music line-up including David Bridie and Papuan Songman George Telek.

This is something of a musical coup for the festival, which will see the pair perform their acclaimed album a Bit na Ta with musicians from the Gunantuna, in North East PNG.

Other drawcards include Yolngu songman Rrawun Maymuru from Yirrkala, Fiji’s exuberant Rako Pasefika and singer-songwriter Benny Walker.

Walking with Spirits is held on a magical bush site at Melkjulumbu (Beswick Falls) in the community of Beswick, 107 kilometres southeast of Katherine.

Festival Director Tom E. Lewis will premiere his new short film Finding Mawiranga and traditional dancers from around the region will participate in the raising of Beswick’s own Morning Star pole, to kick off the festival on Friday night.

Tickets are limited for this one, so be sure to book early. One, two and three night ticket packages are being offered, including camping.
