The Bennies

If you love psychedelic reggae ska doom metal punk rock from hell – then don’t miss the Bennies in Darwin this December. And if you don’t? You don’t know what you’re missing! Guitarist Jules Rozenbergs spills the beans on his frighteningly fun musical influences.

What was the first concert you ever went to?

Green Day on their Insomniac tour at Festival Hall in 1995 (I think). I was 15 and went with a crew of friends.

What’s your favourite album of all time?

Ooooh big question. Pure Guava by Ween, I love the band and this album because of the sheer imagination and shitty production. It’s one of the first albums I ever owned, and it definitely influenced my whole outlook on art/life.

Finish this sentence. My friends would describe me as...

A beast of confusion.

Whose posters did you have stuck to the wall when you were a teenager?

I was into horror films and punk rock as a teenager, and I had massive posters of Taxi Driver, The Shining, The Ramones, Ween, Devo, Sex Pistols and The Cure. Pretty sure I threw them all out moving house a while back, after I spilt a bottle of red on the tube they were being stored in.

Creative writing challenge – describe your sound in three words.

Party, party, party.
