DIFF 2022 - Before Now and Then

Telling the true story of Raden Nana Sunan, who lived in rural Indonesia during the violent political turmoil of the 1960s. Poverty-stricken, having lost her family to war, Nana marries again and begins a new life. Her new husband is wealthy, but her place in the home is menial, and he is unfaithful. An unlikely friendship builds between Nana and her husband’s mistress, both trying to find refuge and ultimately freedom from the troubles that plague their houses and the country.
