Meditation retreat

The four fundamentals of Buddhist meditation will be explored over a weekend retreat in Darwin.

Venerable Acharya Zasep Tulku  Rinpoche will lead the guided sessions addressing the four elements of mindfulness – mindfulness of the body, feelings, the mind and of all phenomena.

Participant Jon Mason says the weekend is open to complete be-ginners who are curious, through to those experienced in the practice.

“They’re guided practices and they’re very accessible for anyone who’s coming in to it new,” he says.

“But I’ve been engaged in it since the late 70s and I still find it re-freshing to attend.

“If your interest is there, you’re very welcome to come.”

The concept and term ‘mindfulness’ has been adopted far and wide in the West in recent years, but the practice has been steeped in Buddhist’s meditation for more than 2500 years.

“You can find all kinds of mindful-ness practices and therapies these days, but mindfulness has been the foundation of Buddhist tradition for 2500 years,” Mason says.

The retreat will be held in the purpose built Vajrabhairava Gompa in Berrimah.
