DIFF 2023 - Goodbye Julia

Set in Sudan during its last years as a united country, Goodbye Julia represents the complicated relationship and the differences between northern and southern Sudanese communities, and the lengths a person will go to assuage their guilt. The story centres on Mona, an upper-middle-class former popular singer from the North, who lives with her husband Akram. Hoping to minimise her feelings of guilt and atone for causing the death of a Southern man, Mona employs his unsuspecting widow, as her maid.
