Miriwoong country straddles the Western Australian and Northern Territory border. In accordance with the creation era known as the Ngarranggarni, Miriwoong people believe that spirit beings roamed across the country performing certain actions that created natural features of the landscape. By depicting rivers and waterholes, Jan Griffiths, Louise Malarvie and Kittey Malarvie are also connecting to and maintaining their cultural responsibilities associated with Ngarranggarni.
