Market Mania

YOU KNOW IT’S ALMOST DRY SEASON WHEN THE DRAGONFLIES ARE FLUTTERING ABOUT AND THE TOP END MARKET SCENE EXPLODES. WE’VE TAKEN OUT THE HARD WORK WITH THIS LIST OF MARKETS TO VISIT – GOOD LUCK CHOOSING JUST ONE – YOU’LL NEED TO MARKET ALL IN YOUR DIARY...

Mindil Beach Markets

The world famous Mindil Beach Markets are back baby, much to the delight of Top Enders and visitors alike. Take a wander through the beautiful scenes at Mindil Beach, as you feast upon Indian, Indonesian and Greek food – just to name a few. Check out an array of entertainment, including live music and fire throwing, or even learn how to crack a whip yourself. Mindil Beach Market General Manager Di Henry said market-goers could expect to see some changes this year.

“Our plan is to revitalise Mindil over the next couple of years to keep our customers happy and to provide better options – including improved access. Changes include a re-vamp of the Community Space (formerly the Sound Shell) with the area including an info booth, ATM and St John Ambulance. We’ve also increased seating and have dubbed this area The Hangout. We’ve also widened the pedestrian access through the market stalls. The markets really showcase the essence of Darwin – our location, weather, community and lifestyle,” Henry said.

Cruise the stalls for bright crafts, unique souvenirs, locally made beauty products and handmade jewellery, before marveling at the beauty of the sun being consumed by the Arafura Sea. Gee, Mindil Markets are we glad to see you!
