WHAT'S THAT SOUND?

Oh, you know, it’s just the buzz of excitement in the air – Darwin Festival is almost here!

By Tierney White

Three weeks of music, cabaret, comedy, theatre, art and more hit Darwin next month for the highly anticipated Darwin Festival. For many, night after balmy Dry season night will be spent at Festival Park catching up with friends and devouring delicious things from an array of food vendors, whilst soaking up the Festival atmosphere and eavesdropping on the excitement emanating from The Lighthouse. We can hardly wait!

The 2016 program is diverse, offering a variety of performances and activities to please everyone. From rockstar-turned-politician-turned-solo-performer Peter Garrett, to giant Ants for the kids, Peter Helliar telling a few funnies, multiple bands rocking it out in The Lighthouse and The WRAP party to end all parties, there’s plenty to get you out and about this Festival.

We thought we’d take a mini-moo to let you know about a few!

LIPPY

This award-grabbing play presented by Dead Centre (Ireland) is a compelling piece of theatre that directly addresses themes of life, death and purpose. Lippy explores why, 15 years ago in a small Irish town, four women made the decision to die. Described as haunting and harrowing, it carries added weight given it’s inspired by real-life events. An Australian premiere, Lippy has taken the international theatre world by storm. For a unique and confronting production that will haunt you long after you leave the theatre, Lippy is one to see.
