Darwin Carnivale Extravaganza
Our beloved Mindil Beach Sunset Market is turning 30 years young.
In 1987, six Darwin entrepreneurs brought to life a collective vision to share a taste of Asia’s night markets with the Top End. Setting up shop in Darwin’s Mitchell Street Mall, the stalls soon moved to the coconut palms of Mindil Beach Reserve – and our treasured Mindil Beach Sunset Market was born.
Cue the party.
To celebrate, Mindil is gifting us with a four-day extravaganza, kicking off at the Thursday night markets with a showcase of local and visiting artists and a taste of carnival.
The party raises the roof on Friday night with live music, carnival costumes, a licenced bar, roving performances, Darwin’s finest drag queens, a late-night curfew and, of course, a glitter booth.
Continue the fun on Saturday with Territory Day celebrations including markets, entertainment and the iconic official Territory Day fireworks.
The weekend wraps up with a huge community day filled with beach activities, live music and free workshops including art, music, dance, circus and more.
