Let’s hear it for the ladies!

8th of March is the global day for celebrating women’s achievements and working towards greater equality.

This year’s theme is ‘#PressforProgress’, so stand strong and get involved by going to a local event.

All About Women Satellite

Streaming live from the All About Women Festival at the Sydney Opera House, catch three headline sessions with the likes of American author Fran Lebowitz, civil rights activist Tarana Burke, Aussie journalist Tracey Spicer and feminist historian Barbara Caine, plus a live audience discussion with local host Amy Hetherington.

Battle of the Sexes

In the wake of the sexual revolution and the rise of the women's movement, the 1973 tennis match between women's world champion Billie Jean King and ex-men's-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs was billed as the battle of the sexes. This event is a fundraiser for the NT Working Women's Centre.

International Women's Day Breakfast 

There’s nothing like a room full of inspiring women and a full brekkie to start the day. Hosted by the Women’s Network NT, guest speaker Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AM, Administrator of the Northern Territory will set the scene for a fab morning of networking and revelling.

Made In Dagenham 

Rita lives in 1968 Dagenham and, like many local women, she works at the Ford plant stitching together seat covers. It's intricate work carried out in sweltering conditions. So why, she wonders, are the workers paid the same as unskilled labourers? Is it because the work is unskilled? Or is it in fact because they are women?

Celebrate the contributions and achievements of women both locally and internationally at this community event. Banners and noisemakers welcome! Celebrations and entertainment will follow in the Main Hall of Parliament House.
