Clean Living In The Tropics - May

Clean living is being mindful of what you put in your body, mindful of keeping a healthy home and work environment, and mindful of your environmental footprint.

By Lina Paselli

Clean eating has been a passion since my awakening about the food I was eating four years ago.

At the age of 40 I began to experience issues with my eyesight. I was told I had to get a pair of glasses to use at the computer. This turned into the beginning of a huge downhill drop in my overall health.

I was not happy with this vision of the future and something didn’t quite add up, so I started reading numerous health books on quitting sugar and clean eating. This new way of eating high fats, loads of vegetables and small amounts of high quality, wild caught or grass-fed protein truly fascinated me.

It all made sense. In a short period of time, my eyesight had improved so much so that those expensive designer glasses are sitting in my office drawer.

From that moment, I was a true believer that food is our medicine – that we need to do our very best to shop differently, go to our local organic farmers’ market, ask how produce and products are made and buy the best quality local, seasonal and fresh clean food we can get our hands on every week.

The investment in my health through food choices was returned ten-fold as I felt more energised, less stressed and free from anxiety and depression. It felt as if I had slowed down the effects of ageing and had more clarity and calmness than ever before.
