Sustainable House Day 2018

Keen to learn some tips and tricks on how to make your home more environmentally friendly?

Five houses around Darwin and the rural area are throwing open their doors to the public for Sustainable House Day.

Coordinator Pedro Najera, from the Environment Centre NT, says the initiative is all about sharing knowledge.

“All of the houses have different features, some have tropical designs, other have energy efficient features and there’s someone with an edible garden,” he says.

“It’s an opportunity for the Darwin community to experience what a sustainable house looks like and ask questions directly to the home owners.

“In this shared experience, the Dar win community can be inspired to make changes to their own homes.”

Sustainable House Day attracts huge crowds each year, with more than 29,000 people visiting 206 homes across Australia in 2017.
