FlicNics

Dust off your picnic blanket and pack some snacks, the City of Palmerston’s free outdoor movie program FlicNics is back.

Make the most of perfect Dry season Saturday nights and tee up family, friends and visitors for these free outdoor cinema gatherings at Goyder Square in Palmerston.

The line-up of movies for the 2017 season has everything from action to animated movies. From Men in Black and Ghostbusters, to Shaun the Sheep and My Girl, no need to draw straws, there really is something for everyone.

First off the blocks this month is family fantasy adventure film Hook, followed in week two by Mary Poppins. This special theme night – prizes for best character dress –kicks off at 6pm and is screening as part of National Families Week celebrations. Head down for roaming performers, children's activities with Fairy Jill, food stalls and free popcorn!

City of Palmerston Mayor Ian Abbott says as far as community building goes, FlicNics has been a huge success since it started in 2014.

“The idea was always to create an event that would bring the community together, strengthen family relationships and instill a sense of community pride,” Abbott said.
A free and accessible movie night has done just that according to Abbott.

“It’s been a great inclusion to our events calendar, activating our city centre with many residents attending each Saturday night.
