Darwin Festival Early Release

Darwin Festival is ready to celebrate its big 4-0 and has released a little sneak preview of what’s in store for the celebrations.

There’s theatre, comedy, circus, art - a little something for everyone,and a brand new show in the Victoria Spiegeltent, from the makers of LIMBO - Blanc de Blanc ENCORE.

Man With The Iron Neck is a daring and delicate story of survival told with humour, poignancy and thrilling stunts.

Cambodia’s Phare Circus’s award-winning show Elipse combines a dramatic mix of theatre, classical Cambodian Apsara dance and thrilling acrobatics, all set to a live original music score.

Music fans of all varieties are in for a treat with Mojo Juju set to make waves in The Lighthouse. Opera Australia heads back to Darwin with the sights and sounds of Japan in Puccini’s famous opera Madama Butterfly

While D'Fest celebrates 40 years, the Darwin Symphony Orchestra is also in party mode for their 30th. The DSO will perform a program  of three very different compositions, including Sibelius’ Finlandia, followed by a world premiere from celebrated Australian composer Lachlan Skipworth commissioned especially for the 30th anniversary and designed to reflect the spirit  of the Territory.

It’s also the 30th birthday of Bangarra Dance Theatre marking the milestone with their show Bangarra: 30 years of sixty five thousand.

Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair returns, and funnyman Tom Gleeson is the first cab off the rank for 2019 Festival comics.
