Electrifying Fun

Celebrate all things youth as the Palmerston Youth Festival returns with seven jam-packed days of events and competitions, just in time for the school holidays.

Kicking off festivities is Geekfest, an all-ages event that offers enough free activities and entertainment to satisfy anyone’s inner nerd – major esports and cosplay competitions, laser tag, virtual reality, medieval land, kids zone, anime and a whole lot more.

Palmerston Youth FestivalZoom in on the Geekfest Top End Esports Cup, a day of video and cosplay competitions with a total prize pool of over $10,000. This year the City of Palmerston has worked with Australian Esports League (AEL) to make the competition more inclusive with female/LGBT+, high school and adult tournaments on the program.

End the week with a bang at Suburban Sounds, a free all-ages concert headlined by, wait for it… Electric Fields. If you missed seeing this powerful musical duo at Garrmalang recently, here’s your chance to see them live, supported by dance music queen Tigerlily and local stars J-MILLA & Yung Milla. The kids are sorted this week with so many free activities, from comedy shows to cooking contests, short films to skating and skateboard design competitions.

“There are some incredible prizes up for grabs, including scholarships with Charles Darwin University, Territory Tourism vouchers and cash prizes,” explains City of Palmerston Mayor, Athina Pascoe-Bell.

“We are beyond excited to bring back the Palmerston Youth Festival this year, after it was dearly missed in 2020.”

With something for everyone, we have to say we’re pretty excited too!
