Get Jacked on Jackfruit

START LICKING YOUR LIPS for the delicious offerings from Darwin Free University. This month, the discussion and workshops are all about food, culture and community.

At the start of the month, join Karunika Pemarathne at Lakeside Drive Community Garden to learn how to prepare jackfruit in a number of ways. Not only is jackfruit delicious served fresh, in a curry or straight out of the freezer on a hot day, it also has an abundance of health benefits, which will be discussed in the workshop. Just a heads up that the workshop starts a little earlier than usual to beat the sunset.

For the discussion, get ready to explore the role of food in sharing culture, community building, sustenance and celebration. Don’t forget to get into the spirit and bring a plate to share – or just bring yourself!
