Venue Profile - Happy Yess

You know the friend you have that always tries new things, and takes you on adventures, and pushes you out of your comfort zone, and shows you things you didn’t even know that you would love – and fills you with living? Darwin music venue Happy Yess is just like that friend.

Featuring reggae, death metal, experimental, electronic, blues, punk, hip-hop, noise, swamp, country, jazz, rock, groove, soul, and any other musical style you can think of – as well as a few that you can’t -  there are no restrictions on what type of music is played at the Happy Yess as long as it’s original.

Dan Davies, Happy Yess manager, says that by providing a space that allows creative freedom musicians and artists can develop their ideas and skills from whatever their starting point.

“This grows our artistic community. Many local artists that played some of their first gigs at the Happy Yess have gone on to tour, played big festival gigs and become successful working artists.”  

Happy Yess is a place for local musos writing original music to spread their wings and express themselves as freely as they wish – b t the creative adventure doesn’t stop there.

With regular comedy, philosophical lecture and spoken word nights, as well as art exhibitions, burlesque shows and theatre sports, Happy Yess is soul-food in all its delicious, delightful and decadent glory.
