First Sunday Blues

On the first Sunday of every month, meandering down Abala Road in Marrara, you can hear the bittersweet sounds of blues resonating through the air. Born from a mutual appreciation of this style, First Sunday Blues is a chance for local musicians to get up and play this extremely influential genre of music.

There is everything an open mic musician needs including a sound engineer, PA system and backline – with drum kit, bass and guitar rigs. All you need to bring is your instrument of choice and a gold coin donation. The PINT Club hosts Pumphouse, the house band, to fill in any gaps throughout the evening, but the open mic night is a big hit, so early bookings before 4pm are recommended. The night is about encouraging new talent to have a go, along with bringing back old favourites who have been playing the scene for a while.

The family friendly occasion has been a staple in the local music scene for years and this friendly jam session and community event encourages young acts to play in front of a crowd. Plus, the PINT Club puts on a good feed, so even if you aren’t playing you can still sit back and enjoy the afternoon.
