DSO At The Movies + Kids' Classics

If you haven’t seen the Darwin Symphony Orchestra perform this year – then you’ve got no excuse for missing them this December, with not one but two shows to delight the whole family.

After the huge success of their performance of the Babe film score last year, the DSO continues their exploration of the power of film in an afternoon at the movies, playing the music of one of the most successful film composers of all time, John Williams.

With credits to his name spanning decades from Fiddler on the Roof,  Jaws, The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and ET to Home Alone, Schindler’s List and Jurrasic Park, if you’ve ever been to the movies, then you’ve been moved by the music of John Williams.

In this special festive celebration, the DSO will also perform the film score to The Snowman live to a screening of this heart-warming animated Christmas film. Music from the Harry Potter films and Pirates of the Caribbean will also feature.

For something designed specifically for the smaller music lovers in your family, the DSO presents a festive Kids Classics’ concert, The 12 Notes of Christmas, featuring a new version of the well-loved Christmas carol for little voices to sing, along with other festive delights from around the world. This intimate performance, featuring members of the DSO, is a great opportunity to interact with the musicians.

Each concert runs for approximately 45 minutes with some time for questions from inquisitive minds and will be held at the Charles Darwin University Theatre, Casuarina and at Palmerston Senior College.

It’s been a big year for the DSO, and they are finishing it off in style!
