Times of Change

Set to the seaside beauty of Pee Wee’s at the Point, Arafura Music Collective’s upcoming performance, Times of Change, is all about the seasons and our effect on the environment.

With a combination of baroque masterpieces, such as Vivaldi’s ‘Summer’ and contemporary works from Darwin-based composer Netanela Mizrahi, Times of Change presents a smorgasbord of musical delights.

Artistic Director Claire Kilgariff says the combination of music in a beautiful outdoor setting provides the perfect formula for reflection.

“After the bushfires, we adopted a more serious and more reflective approach. As artists, we want to help promote change, with beautiful music and reflections on the climate,” she says.

Although climate change can sometimes bring about feelings of sadness, the Arafura Music Collective is determined to keep the performance positive and engaging for audiences.

“We want to provide a commentary on the weather and changes to climate in a subtle, but also upbeat, way. Sydney composer Romano Convecii’s ‘In Times of Change’ and Netanela’s works invite us to listen to the Earth. These pieces should help us achieve that.”

If relaxing to the sounds of the seasons in a gorgeous seaside setting sounds like your jam, this is for you. Tickets include a drink, gourmet tasting platter and one of the best views Darwin has to offer. Bliss.
