Deadly Darwin Comedy

If you're dead-set ready for some laughs from the original comedians of the country then get ready for Deadly Darwin Comedy.

The inaugural event features a group of four Aboriginal comedians who are keen to launch humour into their communities.

One the bill for the first line-up in-cludes several familiar faces to the Top End comedy scene, including Richard Fejo, Mica Kickett, Normie Grogan, and Lynette Lewis-Hubbard.

“The event is in the initial stages to launch careers, and attract new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comedians to the scene,” Fejo says.

“It’s about changing the way we’re perceived and injecting humour, comedy and laughter in our community.”

As for the types of jokes Fejo expects?

“Totally inappropriate,” he says with a laugh.

All performers are graduates of the National Deadly Funny competition, which aims to break down barriers and highlight emerging Aboriginal comedians throughout the country.
