2019 NT Performing Arts Awards

The Northern Territory is bursting with talent, both on stage and behind the scenes. For the first time, those dedicated to the Territory’s performing arts sector will get the recognition they deserve at the inaugural NT Performing Arts Awards.

Nominations are open until December 2 for performers, people working behind the scenes, outstanding collaborations, and artists inspiring the next generation. The winners will be announced at a small ceremony on December 13.

Identifying a gap in the NT’s performing arts sector, the awards are an initiative of the W3 alliance comprised of Brown’s Mart Arts, Corrugated Iron Youth Arts and Tracks Dance Company.

Winners in each category receive $200 cash, a season’s worth of double-passes to the three organisations for 2020, and a workshop pass for Corrugated Iron.

Brown’s Mart Theatre Executive Director Sean Pardy says it’s great to be able to formally recognise the contribution of those in the performing arts.

“Artists and arts workers work well above and beyond the wage that they take home. They help create the wonderful lifestyle that we love here in the Territory and they are courageous in choosing to work in an industry that can be a financial struggle. I think acknowledgment of their achievements is way overdue.”
