Sounds @ Sunset

Five young darwinites are set to transform the nightcliff foreshore throughout the dry this year.

Andre Price-Quinter, 17, is one of five young producers being mentored in event management by LAUNCH Darwin to organise a night of music and food on the foreshore for Sounds @ Sunset.

Price-Quinter is organising a pre-party for BASSINTHEGRASS, with punters getting a sneak peak at two local acts performing at BASS.

DJ Tjung and the winners of the Battle of the School Bands solo competition will be getting the vibes going at both Sounds @ Sunset and BASS.

They’ll be joined in Price-Quinter’s show by local songstress Stevie Jean, who made it to the top five of triple J’s Unearthed High competition in 2017.

The five producers are mentored by the LAUNCH team and Amy Hetherington to learn the skills they need to present a cracking show each month during the Dry.

Price-Quinter says he’s done a bit of stage work in the past and jumped at the opportunity to be mentored and learn more.

“I went away to Garma last year and helped out with the stage there and got to meet the Prime Minister which was amazing,” he says.

“My dad shared the (call out for applications) with me and it seemed interesting, so I thought why not give it a crack?

“It’s really fulfilling for us as producers to get the experience and build confidence to go on to bigger and better things.”
