The year is rounding out and skaters have one final night to feast on pizza and skate before the official programs cease for the year.

Sweatmas sums it up – a sweaty Christmas celebration.

“It’s just a little skate party,” says City of Darwin skate development officer Hannah Illingworth.

“Just food and skating.”

Illingworth says it’s been a great year for Top End skaters, and there are works in the pipeline for when the Dry season returns in 2019.

“It’s been really good vibes all year,” she says.

“There’s more people coming to town and jumping on boards and having a go – and more female skaters, which is rad.

“Next year we’re trying to find more opportunities for skills development for more people to have a go in a supported space.”
