Youth Advisory Committee

If you’re a young person with bright ideas, the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) wants you.

The YAC is the voice of young people and advises City of Darwin Council on a range of topics and makes recommendations on issues affecting young people.

The YAC is currently recruiting for new members and committee member Theresa Helm says they want as many voices as possible for people aged between 12 -25.

“We’re a diverse demographic so we want to reflect that,” she says.

“We’ve got a lot of really ambitious young people who want to make a difference and have their voices heard.”

On top of working closely with Council, YAC hosts and supports a range of events including Quiz4Dili, CEO Sleepout and Youth Homelessness Matters Day.

If you’re keen to get involved, you can head along and see how it all works first hand.

“Put an expression of interest in to the youth projects office and come as an observer,” Helm says.

“You can get a feel for it and then you can put in an application.”
